Accessing design metadata without the Viewer

This blog explores methods for accessing design metadata in APS without using the viewer. It highlights three API options: the Model Derivative service, specifically the GET :urn/metadata/:guid/properties endpoint; the GET :urn/manifest endpoint for retrieving property metadata from a sqlite database; and the APS Viewer’s representation stored in compressed JSON files such as objects_attrs.json.gz and objects_vals.json.gz. The entity-attribute-value structure underlying both sqlite and JSON formats is also explained.
